Large species of Algae come under the category of Seaweed. Can be used as food using standard cooking processes. Some types are a delicacy, though mostly considered a poor form of food. May be the primary 'vegetable' food source on water worlds.
Note that Seaweed is not biologically a plant, though is considered one for most trade and taxation purposes.
